This is a small Japanese iron pot with a wooden lid.
We found it at To-ji Temple’s antique market in Kyoto, a popular place for finding old and special things from Japan’s past.

This kind of pot was used for everyday cooking a long time ago.
The shape is like a traditional kamado pot, used to cook rice or soup over a fire. The wooden lid helps keep the heat inside while cooking.

The pot has three small legs on the bottom. These helped keep it steady when placed over hot coals.
There are some marks and rough spots from age, but that’s what makes it special — it tells a story.

We don’t know the exact year it was made, but it was likely from the late 1800s to early 1900s (late Meiji to Taisho period).
It’s great for decoration, photography props, or people who love wabi-sabi — the beauty of things that are old and imperfect.
