This is a beautiful Japanese sake set with 2 tall bottles (called tokkuri 徳利) and 5 small cups.
We found it at To-ji Temple’s antique market in Kyoto, a famous place for finding treasures from the past.
The design shows many white cranes flying across a golden sky. In Japan, cranes are symbols of happiness, long life, and peace. This kind of pattern was often used for celebrations like weddings or New Year.
Each cup and bottle is hand-painted with gold, red, and black colors. The gold is still shining and the lines are detailed and elegant. On the bottom of each piece, there is a red artist’s stamp.
We don’t know exactly when this set was made, but we believe it comes from the mid-1900s (Showa period).
This set is perfect for display, gift-giving, or special occasions.
